IRX 2017 PREVIEW Get practical insights from the expo’s workshops and clinics

Ahead of InternetRetailing Expo (IRX 2017) and sister event eDelivery Expo (EDX 2017), we’re running a series of previews and interviews looking ahead to the event. Today the focus is on the practical insights that retailers can gain at the workshops and clinics.

A detailed programme of workshops and clinics at IRX 2017 is designed to give retailers hands-on advice and guidance in areas from user-generated content and omnichannel logistics design to machine learning software, and personalisation.

Billed as a “complete programme of hands-on, practical, training focused sessions delivered by leading companies in the industry”, the workshops range from a session on increasing both new and repeat business from Webmarketing Booster (WMB), to a workshop focusing on understanding the complexity of online browsing and in-store consumer behaviour from GI Insight.

Workshops on the opening day of the event, April 5, come from Loop54 on machine-learning software; Oracle and Bronto on marketing to a segment of one and personalisation strategies; iAdvise, asking who your customers really want to chat with; Bunting on product recommendation mistakes and how to fix them, BillerudKorsnas on packaging as a hero; Yotpo on customer-created content; XPO Logistics on tackling the logistical challenges of the omnichannel business, as well as WMB and GI Inisght.

On the second day, April 6, Akeneo focuses on successful product experiences through PIM systems; Rice Media on learning from competitors; Acapture on building a data-driven fraud strategy; Optimizely on personalising digital experiences; SiteSpect on measuring the returns from investment in the customer experience; Advir on virtual reality and the future of retail advertising; and ProFS, ChannelAdvisor and DHL on building a strong supply chain. Oracle and Bronto will also repeat their workshop of April 5.

Running alongside the workshops, a number of suppliers are also offering one-to-one consultations through clinics that focus on individual ecommerce challenges. PIM specialist Akeneo, SEO Agency Rice Media, ecommerce courier consultant Parcel Warehouse, lean multichannel advisor Exact Abacus, cross-border ecommerce specialist Global-3 and multichannel customer advisor Experian are all offering clinics.

More than 5,000 people are expected to IRX and sister conference EDX 2017, where innovations for this year include the opening plenary session from Alan Wizeman of Lululemon, the Innovation Hub, the Omnichannel Experience Theatre and, perhaps most exciting, a new Official After Show Party, exclusively for retailers.

For the first time, delegates who bring team members will be entered into a draw to win tech prizes including the Apple Watch, Amazon Echo, and the Fitbit.

Speakers in the eight conferences hail from organisations as diverse as IRUK Top500 retailers John Lewis, Sainsbury’s, Asda, and Next through to the Department for International Trade, Alibaba Group, and Heathrow Airport.
