Sainsbury’s is looking towards a world of ever-faster delivery as it expands its one-hour Chop Chop delivery service, while John Lewis today envisages a world where stores put service first. That chimes with SAP Hybris co-founder Carsten Thoma’s view of future retail as a world in which product and experience meld into one. This is just one of the future retail scenarios that we’ve brought back from the SAP Hybris customer conference in Barcelona this week.
We’re also looking towards how delivery is changing now and will change further in years to come through studies from JDA/Centiro and from Accenture, while Global Data and Worldpay share their respective visions of how the UK ecommerce market is set to develop over the next five years.
All this comes against the background of today’s retail, as understood through retail sales figures out this week that suggest inflation is having an impact across sales channels.
