Almost 70% of Domino’s UK pizza deliveries are now ordered online.

Domino’s Pizza Group today said in an interim management statement that 69.4% of its UK delivered sales were now made over the internet. Total sales through online platforms grew to £103m, in the 13 weeks to March 30, 25% up on the same time last year. Of them, 34% were taken through mobile devices.

Total sales for the 13 weeks rose by 14.8% to £188.5m, while like-for-like sales in 725 mature UK stores were up by 10.8%. That was in part, said Domino’s, thanks to “our most successful meal deal ever offered – the Winter Survival Deal – and some weaker comparative figures due to the impact of snow int he early weeks of the same period last year.”

Interim chief executive officer David Wild said: “We are pleased with the like-for-like performance in our core UK and Republic of Ireland business. The pipeline and franchisee demand for new stores is healthy. Whilst we expect the number of sites opened in the year to be second half weighted, we remain confident in delivering our target of 40-50 new stores in 2014.”

Domino’s Pizza Group operates in Ireland, Germany and Switzerland as well as the UK. Sales in those territories grew, though less strongly than in the UK market. In Ireland, local currency sales rose by 3.4%, in Germany by 3.2% and in Switzerland by 1.8%.
