Amazon, Asos, Burberry, Mothercare, Supergroup: a multichannel take on how they sell

This is an archived article - we have removed images and other assets but have left the text unchanged for your reference

In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter we’re going beyond the headlines to uncover what IRUK Top500 ecommerce and multichannel brands and retailers are telling us about the way they sell online. We look too at how they deliver on their sales promises – and how that is changing.

These leading retailers are the ones to watch: these are the ones who win most business from shoppers evolving quickly in their demands for joined-up commerce that gives them the customer experience they want, whenever and wherever they want to buy. Our analysis looks at what they are doing, and how that is developing their overall businesses.

Today, therefore, we look at what SuperGroup said in full-year results this week about its ecommerce and multichannel strategy, at home and abroad. We consider how mobile is growing for retailers including Burberry and Mothercare, and what Amazon’s Prime Day said about the way shoppers want to buy from it.

We also report on the new Precise delivery service that’s been launched by Asos and DPD, further evidence of retailers developing strategies to meet their customers’ needs.

All of these are Views that will come together at this year’s InternetRetailing Conference and sister event the eDelivery Conference. Today we report on the central Views of the two events, to be held this October at the Novotel Hammersmith, in London.

Finally, in today’s guest comment, Channie Mize of Periscope considers the demands of an evolving omnichannel customer on retailers of all sizes.
