Amazon is expanding its Prime Now same-day food delivery across London and nine other major UK cities this month in response to the coronavirus pandemic. It is also expanding in Barcelona.
Working with Morrisons, Prime Now will cover 90% of London postcodes by the end of May, with Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh added to Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow.
The service will allows shoppers to access essentials with same day delivery out of 40 Morrisons stores across Greater London, building on a trial of 19 already running. Prime members will be able to pick two-hour delivery slots between 8am and midnight each day for same day delivery.
David Potts, Morrisons chief executive, comments: “Expanding this fast home delivery service to more cities will help us to play our full part in feeding the nation. Through our conveniently located stores and the popular Amazon Prime Now service, more and more customers will be able to access deliveries to their doorstep at this very difficult time.”
Amazon is also expanding Prime Now in Barcelona in Spain in partnership with Spanish retailer DIA. It builds of Prime Now’s existing same-day delivery services with DIA across Madrid and Valencia.
