Amazon is calling for delivery partners as it announced a new fulfilment centre in the German city of Bremen.
The new 38000 square metre site will serve the city and its surrounding area. A facility of around 12,500 sqm and a multi-storey car park are being built on the site.
Amazon said it was offering local delivery partners the opportunity to support the site. The centre will create around 30 full-time jobs initially, with a further 100 to be added in the future. It will require over 400 drivers to support deliveries.
The Bremen site is scheduled to open in autumn of this year. The marketplace worked with logistics space supplier Goodman on the site.
“Amazon is investing in transport infrastructure and innovation to increase supply chain capacity,” the company said in a statement. “As a result, Amazon will enable faster delivery options for customers.”
Bernd Gschaider, director of Amazon Logistics in Germany, said: “We are very pleased to open a delivery station in Bremen, where more than 20 years of logistical expertise, technological progress and investment in transport infrastructure have gone into.
“This will enable Amazon to offer customers faster and more flexible delivery options.”
Amazon currently has sites in the regions around Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Rhine-Ruhr area, Raunheim (Frankfurt/Main), and Mannheim Germany.
Amazon employees at sites at several distribution centres in Germany struck to achieve a collective bargaining agreement in the run-up to Easter this year.
