Amazon.com is the most visible site when UK customers search for brown goods, such as televisions, DVD players and computers.

That was the finding of Greenlight’s Brown Goods March 2010 report.

Greenlight analysed the results of searches on 940 keywords for its research, and found Amazon.com was the most visible site in 55% of natural searches and 43% of paid searches in March 2010.

It was followed closely by tesco.com, (13% visibility in natural search and 33% in paid search) and Argos.co.uk (22% natural and 23% paid).

Entertainment product terms, including MP3 players, audio and iPod products and brand names such as Sennheiser and Apple, were the most searched for. The 6.2m searches for these terms accounted for 38% of brown goods-related searches in March.

The report also suggested televisions were likely to be a key search term in the run up to June’s FIFA World Cup.
