AO and Amazon have both announced new UK distribution centres in Crewe and Belfast respectively.
White goods seller AO has opened a third distribution centre in Crewe in northern England, giving it more than 1 million square feet of space in the city.
The new warehouse, AO’s third in Crewe, adds an additional 110,000 square feet of space.
The company will use the warehouse to support its usual retail operations as well as bulk up its third-party logistics business.
The two-person delivery service for large, bulky goods is used by the likes of Aldi, The Cotswold Company and Simba. It was acquired by AO in 2009.
David Ashwell, MD of AO Logistics, said: “This is a great measure of the confidence that our third party clients have in AO. During the Covid-19 pandemic our amazing team has been delivering safely and efficiently, providing a lifeline for AO.com’s customers which in turn, third party clients have benefitted from.

Meanwhile, Amazon has announced it was opening a new distribution centre in the Northern Irish capital Belfast.
The 8,500 square metre facility will replace its existing operations in the area.
The online giant has begun recruiting for new franchise delivery partners in the area.
