Co-op plans to use electric vehicles for all home deliveries by 2025.
The UK convenience retailer will begin using electric vehicles from stores in Hebden Bridge, Holmfirth and Hove beginning this month. Stores in Ryde, Isle of Wight and Whitby will follow early next year.
The retailer sells through a range of online channels, including its own website, launched in 2019. It also uses the Deliveroo on-demand app as well as robot delivery service Starship Technologies.
Its stores act as distribution hubs for the local area. Currently online shopping is available from 1000 stores overall.

“In addition to offering quality and value quickly, easily and conveniently, we need to do this sustainably, and by replacing all our own home delivery vehicles and working collaboratively with partners with shared values we can ensure we further reduce greenhouse gas emissions, something which is essential if we are to have a healthy and sustainable natural environment to pass on to future generations.”
