Boohoo today set out its terms of reference for an independent review of its Leicester supply chain. The review follows reports that suggested unsafe conditions in factories making goods for the fast fashion group’s brands during the Covid-19 lockdowns could be linked to a surge in infections that led to a local lockdown in the city.
Those reports also led to a fall in Boohoo’s share price and third-party retailers including Next and Asos deciding to suspend listing Boohoo’s products on their own websites.
The report, led by QC Alison Levitt, will examine allegations made in relation to Boohoo’s supply chain in Leicester and whether they were well-founded. If so, it will go on to consider how Boohoo monitored its Leicester supply chain and what it knew of the allegations. It will look at how the group complied with the law and make recommendations for the future.
The group will give an update on the report findings when it issues its first half results on September 30.
