IRX 2015 PREVIEW The Multichannel merchandising and selling conference
We're running a regular series of previews ahead of Internet Retailing Expo (IRX 2015) focusing on different aspects of the event and interviewing speakers. Today our focus is on the Multichannel merchandising and selling conference.

Merchandising is the magic ingredient that helps retailers stand out from the crowd, and convert online browsers into buyers. Smart approaches to displaying products online mean customers can easily and quickly find the item they're looking for, often from a range of many thousands. Good merchandising also means that the item, once received, matches the customer's expectations.

The Multichannel merchandising and selling conference at IRX 2015 puts the focus on converting customers and boosting online sales.

"This conference will showcase a range of the latest tools and strategies available to create websites and display products in a way that is accessible and attractive to today's online shopper," said Lisa Ploude, conference director. "It will debate key challenges: how can deeper online connections result in increased sales and prompt buying decisions? What technologies are available to enhance experiences? What does a seamless and user-friendly experience look like? Where does fulfillment and delivery fit in?"

Martijn Bertisen, director, retail at Google UK, opens the conference with some predictions. His keynote address, The future of retail, is at 10.35am.

At 11.10am, a speaker from conference sponsor SLI Systems will present a case study.

Then John Mulliken, senior vice president for strategic initiatives at Wayfair, puts the personal into merchandising in his presentation. Personalisation to breathe life into your brand story is at 11.45am.

Eddie Woffinden, head of digital merchandising at QVC UK, takes to the stage with some examples from his own experience at the television shopping retailer. Multichannel merchandising – challenges and learnings from a different type of retailer is at 12.30pm. Click to read our pre-IRX 2015 interview with Eddie Woffinden.

Stuart McMillan, deputy head of ecommerce at Schuh, investigates how design changes in the light of crosschannel. His presentation, Responsive design, is at 1.05pm.

Helen Colclough, ecommerce development manager at River Island, discusses usability and the customer experience in her session. Design and usability for satisfaction and conversion is at 1.50pm.

Justin Lodge, head of developing markets at Wiggle.co.uk, is the final speaker in the conference, with his take on how retailers can best present products in different markets. Merchandising to conquer international markets is at 2.25pm. Find out more by reading our pre-IRX interview with Justin Lodge.

The Multichannel merchandising and selling conference takes place on March 26 in Theatre 3 at IRX 2015. To find out more and to register for the free-to-attend event, click here.
