Pets at Home , which has 246 stores across the UK, has replaced its existing ecommerce platform with a new solution from systems integrator Salmon that is designed to increase its multi-channel capabilities.

The new site incorporates improved navigation and customer reviews and incorporates technologies from a number of leading suppliers, including:
  • CyberSource, for online payments

  • Coremetrics for online analytics and marketing optimisation

  • Power Reviews, for customer reviews and recommendations

  • QAS Quick Address Pro Web to handle address data quality

  • Omniture Merchandising to improve shoppers' ability to find and select the products they want and enable Pets at Home to cross-sell and up-sell

The site is hosted by Rackspace and Salmon will support and maintain the site, providing 24x7x365 application management and support services.

"We were very impressed with Salmon's credentials, they have a solid history of developing multi-channel websites for leading retailers and this experience along with their ecommerce solution, which leverages IBM WebSphere Commerce, made them the right ecommerce provider for us," says Brian Scott, systems director at Pets at Home. "Salmon have designed, delivered and integrated our new website, and are actively helping us shape our multi-channel strategy. We are extremely happy with the results to date and we look forward to a continued partnership."

"It's important we offer the convenient and enjoyable web experience that our customers demand," added Matt Stead, director of multi-channel at Pets at Home. "Combining our online and offline services is going to be a contributing factor to our success over the next few years. In the coming months we will look to trial additional functionality to meet our customers' expectations."
