Same-day food delivery service from convenience stores expands across the UK as demand skyrockets

Grocemania, an app-based delivery service for the convenience grocery sector, is to expand across the UK as demand for food delivery from small local stores grows.

The on-demand grocery delivery, which launched in 2017 in London, enables shoppers to get groceries delivered to their door by courier, on the same day that they order, from their local convenience store.

To make its service possible, the company has partnered with hundreds of small stores across the UK, working with Budgens, Nisa, Londis and Costcutter, as well as numerous independent retailers. It is now planning to expand with this network from the capital to Brighton, Bristol, Newcastle, Birmingham and Manchester by July 2020, with more regions to follow.

Grocemania also offers next-day delivery across the UK of fresh produce boxes from New Covent Garden Market.

Askar Bulegenov, founder and director of Grocemania, says: “The food delivery sector has seen huge growth over recent years, and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated this trend. However, with large supermarkets unable to meet soaring demand for home deliveries, consumers across the UK – particularly vulnerable people and NHS staff – need more options.

He adds: “Grocemania is answering the call. We are supporting both local businesses and the British public by making hundreds of grocery deliveries every day. What’s more, we’re delighted to be expanding our fast, convenient grocery delivery services into new regions across the UK, helping to connect the consumer to the high street during the lockdown.”
