Debenhams shoppers will soon be able to collect and return parcels from more than 50 retailers, including Asos, Amazon, Missguided and Wiggle, at any of its stores.

The Doddle click and collect service, previously trialled in 50 branches of Debenhams, is now being rolled out across the estate, and is set to be complete by next spring.

Debenhams, a Leading retailer in IRUK Top500 research, says the partnership will support its strategy of giving existing customers a better in-store experience, while also bringing new customers into its shops.

Ross Clemmow – managing director, retail, food, digital and events at Debenhams said: “Thanks to this ground-breaking partnership, customers now have the convenience of being able to collect and return their online shopping from over 50 retailers from Debenhams at the same time as discovering our re-imagined shopping experience.

“Partnering with Doddle was the natural choice. Their leading tech allows us to offer a seamless click and collect service whilst their focus on customer service aligned perfectly with ours. The fact that the partnership has driven six figure parcel volumes within the first few months of trial provides testimony to the fact that together we’re providing a service UK consumers really value.”

Doddle benefits from a stronger presence in shopping centres and high streets across the UK. The Debenhams partnership complements a similar one with Morrisons, that gives it a presence in the supermarket shop.

During the trial, more than 150,000 Doddle customers collected or returned an item via a Debenhams store. Almost a third (30%) of those customers went on to make incremental in-store purchases, with an average basket value of £25. Nearly half (40%) of tracked transactions made by Doddle customers came from individuals who hadn’t previously bought in a Debenhams store.

Tim Robinson, Doddle chief executive, said: “This partnership is the ultimate win-win.  It enables us to offer the convenience led UK omni-channel shopper an ever-greater number of high profile, convenient and trusted locations to collect and return parcels at and enables Debenhams to attract a high spending new demographic into its stores.

“The conversion of that footfall into such meaningful sales during the trial period demonstrates the crucial role click an collect services like ours can play during this critical time for the UK high street.”
