In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we’re taking a look at how key areas of the multichannel and ecommerce retail industry are changing – and fast. The key words here are easy and convenient, fast becoming the watchwords for an industry looking to compete by giving customers exactly what they want.

Today we report on the faster uptake of contactless payment, and what that says about the consumer appetite for digital payments, and we look at the latest delivery innovations from two leading UK retailers, which we predict are set to have a still wider impact.

We also look at how new selling styles are emerging as retailers such as Feelunique launch their own marketplaces.

We name the 500 leading European retailers in the 2017 IREU Top500, while research from InternetRetailing Knowledge Partner Geoblink looks at how leading retailers site stores in order to reach the maximum number of consumers.

Today’s guest comment comes from Sharon Manikon of Barclaycard who considers how an omnichannel strategy can win retailers customers.

The Tamebay Ecommerce Cup

The Tamebay Ecommerce Cup 2017 will be held on September 7 and five-a-side teams are now being invited to sign up. The tournament, now in its fifth year, is moving to a new venue in Shepherd’s Bush and promises FA refs and a comfy new players’ lounge complete with screens to keep tabs on competitors’ matches.

“We had a total of 26 teams enter last year, and it was great to have both suppliers and retailers competing, with Deliveroo taking the top spot and runners up Uber narrowly missing out,” says Mark Pigou, founder of InternetRetailing Media. “This year promises to be just as competitive.” To enter a team of up to 10 people (five players and five subs), sign up here.

Sponsorship opportunities are limited to three companies: email Joey Evans (joe.evans@tamebay.com) for more.
