Looking ahead to UK etailing's 'busiest ever day'

Linked InTwitterFacebookeCard
It’s set to be no less than UK online retailing’s busiest ever day and in today’s Internet Retailing newsletter we’re looking ahead to Cyber Monday. Get up to date with the predictions about how much will be spent, where and how by reading the newsletter story below.

Anyone writing or reading about online retailing will be familiar with the complaint that it’s difficult to compete against Amazon’s prices. So today’s news of just how much money Amazon takes in the UK, which we also cover in today’s newsletter, will be alarming for many traders. But is there an argument to be made that this could also be seen as reassuring? Granted, Amazon.co.uk made net sales of £2.9bn in 2011. But in a year when UK consumers spent £68bn online, many others also stood to profit from a market that, it could be argued, was pioneered by Amazon at a time when few others were convinced of the merits of internet retailing.

Today we also report on retailers including Express Gifts, John Lewis, Asos and Halfords. Read the stories below for more.
