Retailers harness the power of multichannel to grow sales in inauspicious economic times

Linked InTwitterFacebookeCard
Two very different retailers show in today's Internet Retailing newsletter just what offering very good multichannel services can do for retailers competing for sales in a weak economy. Domino's Pizza says it's now 'truly an online retailer' as sales grow fast both in its primary sales channel, ecommerce, and in its m-commerce offerings. Meanwhile, fashion retailer Next reports on an online sales boost that's helping it to report growth across its business despite flat or falling store sales. And both are seeing this growth in a still weak economy. Find out more in the newsletter stories below.

A reminder too that there are just days left to claim the earlybird rate to the Internet Retailing Conference 2013. With speakers including veteran retailer Sir Stuart Rose, chairman of Ocado and Dressipi, Laura Wade-Gery, who is driving strategy as executive director for multichannel and ecommerce at Marks & Spencer, and Vente-Privée co-founder Ilain Benhaim, this is sure to be a must-catch event, which takes place on October 16 at the Hammersmith Novotel, London. Click here to buy a ticket before August 1 and save up to £200.

In today's newsletter we also report on Hammerson's investment in its multichannel strategy, and a British Airways campaign to enable shoppers to design their dream holidays through interactive shopping centre screens.

Webinars

We have two upcoming dates in our series of free-to-attend webinars to let you know about today.

On Tuesday August 13, Jim Davidson, manager of marketing research at Bronto, joins us for Bam! Ka-Pow! Power-packing your post-purchase programs. During the event, to be held at 2pm, he will be considering how post-purchase email marketing can help to ensure long-term customer loyalty and repeat sales. It's an under-used part of the customer lifecycle, he says, that can give a strong boost to online sales and conversion by talking directly to the multi-device, multi-tasking consumer. Find out more on the Bronto webinar page, where you can also register for free.

And on Thursday September 5, Nuance focuses on customer service in, Creating satisfied customers - meet Nina Web, the new face of online customer experience. Tim Atkinson, business development director at Nuance, is the speaker for this event, to be held at 11am. He'll be showing how Nuance's intelligent virtual assistant can talk to, serve and listen to customers around the clock, and demonstrating how it works for existing customers including Coca Cola and Michelin. Click here for more information and to register.

More information about our webinar programme is available here.
