Waitrose, Zalando and House of Fraser: new routes to expansion

This is an archived article - we have removed images and other assets but have left the text unchanged for your reference

In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we report on different approaches that multichannel retailers are taking to expansion and sales growth. We have news of Waitrose as it expands its stores numbers and its ecommerce capabilities, of Zalando as it launches its UK partner programme and of House of Fraser as it takes further its quest to bridge the gap between store and online, this time with a new app.

We’re also looking ahead to IRX 2015 in two stories today, a must-attend event for retailers looking to expand their multichannel and ecommerce businesses. We consider why delivery must be top of the priority list for retailers, and we also preview the Insight and Experience Conference in the upcoming expo.

In our final stories, we report on Parcelforce Worldwide’s new ecommerce-friendly delivery service, and on a study that suggests a significant proportion of shoppers are more likely to buy online in winter.

Our webinars

Our first webinar of 2015 comes from dotmailer, whose group account director Lili Boev will explore why potential shoppers abandon shopping carts – an average 68% of all online retail shopping carts are left before a purchase is completed – and how to craft strategies to make the most of those abandoned carts and convert lost browsing sessions. The free webinar, A sense of abandonment?, takes place at 2pm on January 27. To find our more and register, visit the dotmailer webinar page.
