Online electronics retailer Electric Shopping has added Treepodia‘s automated product videos to its site and has seen a growth in conversions of an average of 75% among shoppers who watch the videos compared with those who don’t, with increases peaking at 200% for some products.

Treepodia’s Smart Video Platform uses retailers’ existing product images, marketing copy, user reviews, and merchandising rules to create engaging and effective videos automatically. The product works on a cost-per-view model, with no set-up or production fees.

Before they began working with Treepodia, Electric Shopping relied on an in-house team to produce and upload product videos, an approach CEO Rob Levy and his team found to be expensive, labour-intensive, and slow. “Previously we had videos for a very small percentage of our product catalogue because we simply couldn’t produce them quickly enough,” he said. “On top of that, we had no way to measure their performance so we had no idea what benefit, if any, they provided our business.”

With Treepodia, Levy says, those issues completely went away as they were able to have videos created and uploaded for many products on their site quickly, and in a highly cost-effective manner.

Additionally, because of the built-in and automated A/B testing capabilities Treepodia’s platform provides — different versions of each product video are produced and each is tested for effectiveness, with the best performing versions then promoted — Electric Shopping could see what type of video works best, and they could also see the direct benefit of having the videos on their site.

“Because of the A/B testing and performance metrics Treepodia supplies, we can now see how many times someone looks at a particular product page, whether they viewed the video, and whether they purchased — and we definitely see a higher conversion rate among those visitors who watch the videos,” Levy said.

“Treepodia’s automated product videos have helped us tremendously,” Levy continues. “We’re now able to provide great visual and educational content that helps our customers with their purchasing decisions and gives them confidence in us as a seller. Additionally, the videos drive more traffic to our site through organic search, as Treepodia automatically uploads the videos to several video sharing sites like YouTube, Y! Video, Vimeo and more.”
