The Growth 2000 performance index benchmarks the retailcraft of the largest 2000 retailers in the UK outside of the Top500, measuring the areas of Search, Mobile, Delivery, and Social. The index takes the customer's perspective to see whether and how these companies are positioned to grow. Some are brands selling direct-to-customer for the first time; others are niche or regional retailers with a strong appeal within their target demographics; while still others are international retailers looking to expand their customer base in the UK.
In the run up to Christmas this year, almost half of British consumers plan to predominately shop from domestic brands (43%), with 55% of UK households increasing spend with local businesses since the start of the pandemic.
UK e-commerce companies have seen significant growth, both in revenues and repeat orders since lockdown. Firms report average annual revenue increases of more than 15% since April in line with the shift to online retail.
