In today’s Internet Retailing newsletter we’re considering some of the changes that boost ecommerce and multichannel shopping. It’s clear that customer behaviour is changing, and that’s a driving force behind Asda’s move to connect its stores and digital, which we report today. That’s put down to shoppers’ desire for convenient and easy buying. But what’s behind that desire? New research from dunnhumby suggests that having a new baby is a common factor around the world among many shoppers who are new to buying online.

Today we also report on the steady growth of retail sales, both online and off, in January, and on the launch of a new Shop Direct store aimed at bringing affordable luxury mainstream.

We preview IRX 2015 through the digital sales and marketing conference, while our guest comment, from Daren Ward of Glue Reply, considers the retail approach to customer privacy in his piece, Crossing the line.
