How the way we shop is changing before our eyes

In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we’re covering the welcome news that online sales grew faster in April than for the previous six months. Some of this improvement is likely to be as retailers have continued to improve the way they do business, and today we report on retailers from John Lewis to Weird Fish and Ghost who have seen business lift following website improvements.

Home shopping group Shop Direct says its website, improved over many years, is now so popular with its customers that it’s doing away with its paper catalogue altogether. We were taken by the idea, which seems to illustrate the way we shop changing before our eyes: in response we’ve come up with our own list of one-time shopping staples that are set to go out of stock under the influence of digital.
