Lonely Planet opts for affiliate programme to boost sales

Travel publisher Lonely Planet has launched an affiliate programme as it looks to boost its ecommerce activity.

The programme, run with Affiliate Window and buy.at in both the UK and US markets, aims to increase visitors to its lonelyplanet.com website. Lonely Planet will make ecommerce sales initially through its online bookshop and later in the year through hotel bookings, travel insurance and tours, part of a range of travel services to be on offer.

Lonely Planet has been in business for almost 40 years, publishing guidebooks and more recently running a website, offering mobile and digital travel products as well as a dedicated community for travellers.

“Having previously worked with Affiliate Window in the UK, we know they have the tools, technology and network reach to drive revenue as well as meet the ever-changing needs for both publishers and advertisers,” said Vicky Pester, online marketing manager for Lonely Planet.

“We’ve been impressed with their previous campaigns and look forward to working with the Affiliate Window and buy.at teams to establish a more proactive approach to our affiliates while growing our travel services offering.”
