Travel publisher Lonely Planet has launched an affiliate programme as it looks to boost its ecommerce activity.
The programme, run with Affiliate Window and buy.at in both the UK and US markets, aims to increase visitors to its lonelyplanet.com website. Lonely Planet will make ecommerce sales initially through its online bookshop and later in the year through hotel bookings, travel insurance and tours, part of a range of travel services to be on offer.
Lonely Planet has been in business for almost 40 years, publishing guidebooks and more recently running a website, offering mobile and digital travel products as well as a dedicated community for travellers.
“Having previously worked with Affiliate Window in the UK, we know they have the tools, technology and network reach to drive revenue as well as meet the ever-changing needs for both publishers and advertisers,” said Vicky Pester, online marketing manager for Lonely Planet.
“We’ve been impressed with their previous campaigns and look forward to working with the Affiliate Window and buy.at teams to establish a more proactive approach to our affiliates while growing our travel services offering.”
Anjulie Truong, client services manager for Affiliate Window said: "We are delighted to partner exclusively with Lonely Planet for both their UK and US affiliate offering.
“Lonely Planet is a well known and respected travel and retail operator with a driven attitude to online marketing. The brand has innovative expansion plans for the next 12 months and beyond, including developing their reach within bookable travel services. Our global approach is to ensure the US and UK teams work closely together to further develop and align Lonely Planet’s online presence.
“Combining our experienced account management teams and an award winning technology platform we are confident we can offer the support, insight and guidance to drive their online strategy forwards."
