Ticketmaster UK is launching a new social media digital gifting solution that enables people to give their friends an instant present through their Facebook page.

The programme, developed by Ticketmaster with partners PrePaySolutions and gift card specialist Hemingways, which operates Voucher Express, connects to a user’s Facebook account in order to personalise the delivery of e-Gifts.

The purchaser can use the system to search their list of Facebook friends either by name or birthday and buy an e-Gift that will be delivered through a post on the recipient’s wall on the social media site. The recipient can click through the post to access a unique e-Gift code that can be personalised further message from the giver.

Both the recipient and their friends can comment on the post. Gifts can be scheduled for future dates and there is also a print out option that means buyers have something to give friends they see in person.

“Ticketmaster’s virtual gift card programme has clearly demonstrated that the virtual gifting market has arrived in the UK and Ireland and is set to grow significantly over the next few years," said Chris Edmonds, managing director, Ticketmaster UK. "We’re pleased to be working with PrePay Solutions on this and our customers love the convenience and 'instant' nature that our e-Gift solution delivers.”

Ray Brash, managing director, PrePay Solutions, said: “The launch of the virtual gift card programme brings Ticketmaster’s offering to a wider audience and enables the consumer to buy or redeem an e-Gift at their convenience. It provides a gifting solution 24 hours a day, seven days a week, thereby fitting in with consumers’ increasingly busy lifestyles.

“The use of social media is the natural extension of any virtual gift card programme, because it offers a personalised approach enabling friends to comment and ‘like’ your e-gift.”
