French ecommerce website Cdiscount has opened a new incubator for start-ups focused on the use of marketing and data.
Called simply “the Lab”, the centre will focus on areas such as purchase experience and new consumption patterns as well as sustainability and the environment.
The Casino group subsidiary will work with start-ups to co-build solutions. Cdiscount will provide expertise from its internal teams alongside usage data from its website.
The opening of the new lab follows the launch of a similar incubator supply chain in 2017 focused on the supply chain. This has worked with nine start-ups.
The programme is open to applications until 4 March.
Ferdinand Tomarchio, director of commerce and marketing at Cdiscount, said the lab would reinforce the company’s momentum in open innovation around the customer experience.
The launch comes as Carrefour prepares to open an innovation lab alongside Google. The two companies will use the 2500 square metre space to experiment with technology such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Cdiscount is a member of the IREU Top500 index, tracking the top performing retailers in Europe.
