IRX 2013 THE INDEPTH VIEW Internet Retailing In-Store conference

As IRX 2013 approaches, we start an in-depth look at each of the six conferences. Today the focus is on the Internet Retailing In-Store conference, to be held in the Enterprise Theatre on March 20.

For many multichannel retailers, of late, the cutting edge of innovation has been located in their stores. By joining up their network of shops with the ecommerce platform through innovations such as Click and Collect services and endless aisles that allow the customer to search beyond the store, traders have been harnessing the power of multichannel.

Developments made in this area will come into focus in our Internet Retailing In Store conference, to be held at the IRX 2013 on March 20. “Under the IRIS banner,” says conference director Christian Annesley, “we’ll be addressing the opportunities of the digital store renaissance and the new approaches to selling in the digital age.”

Keynote speaker in the conference is Martin Bartle, global communications and ecommerce director at Agent Provocateur . Bartle, whose previous roles include time at Net-A-Porter and, has also worked to advise retailers including Bally, Mulberry and Liberty of London . At IRX 2013 he’ll be considering the role of customer-centred customer service in a joined-up multichannel business – and how to go about delivering on the promises that retailers make to customers in a session that starts at 11am.

Following on, will be a panel session on the renaissance of the digital store. Members of the panel, who take to the stage at 11.30am, will examine how the digital store is changing and how it must evolve to support multichannel.

Afternoon highlights include, at 1.30pm, a discussion of ways that companies can bring together mobile vouchers and in-store to gain real understanding of customers. Speakers include Neale Graham, chief executive of 2ergo, whose Tiktap technology is being used to just this end in one Dublin store.

And at 2pm, the focus is on integrating the physical store into multichannel infrastructures. Webloyalty UK managing director Guy Chiswick will consider where the store fits in 2013, the evolution of the purchase pathway and the key innovations and disruptive technologies that can transform the in-store experience.

The final presentation of the day looks at tomorrow’s digital store, and how signage, digital displays and iPads can be used to make the in-store experience multichannel.
