All InternetRetailing eyes are now on Birmingham, where we’ll be gathering next week to catch up on the latest developments and the newest technologies in the ecommerce and multichannel industries.
I’ll be looking out in particular for the latest thinking in areas from operations and logistics to merchandising and the all-important customer, all key to our IRUK Top500 covering in coming months. I’ll be catching what look set to be some interesting presentations, and I’ll be asking retailers for their take on how the industry is developing. You can read all about it next week in my round up from the show.
In the meantime, today’s look ahead to the show is a double bill, featuring interviews with keynote speakers Dieter Kindl of Rakuten Austria and EJ Jackson of SAP Anywhere.
We also report this week on rising online – but falling offline – sales, on Royal recognition for ecommerce retailers and suppliers and the latest update on the N Brown Group transformation plan. At the same time we report on the CBI warning that a digital divide is opening up between retailers and other businesses that use digital to good effect – and those that don’t.
Today’s guest comment comes from Craig Sears-Black of Manhattan Associates on the importance of refocusing commerce around the personal experience.
