The IVIS Group has opened an office in China in order to help UK retailers break into the market.

From its new Beijing office it will initially be working with two clients in the fashion and tourism sectors, advising them on building multichannel operations in the region.

“There are two compelling reasons to be in China – the domestic market is at that tipping point where ecommerce is becoming a key differentiator and so many UK and European businesses are trying to set up in the country,” said Paul Bolton, director of product and corporate strategy at IVIS Group.

“We want to help businesses we work with to break into that market – there is a history of retailers who’ve gone in and tried to replicate the same model they have in their own country, but failed. Retailers often struggle to find help with how to sell in China, so we will work with them to implement best-practice and localise their offering.”

The IVIS Group already has operations in the UK and Malaysia. Customers for its multichannel maturity model, MCm2, designed to help retailers move from single channel to multichannel, customer-centric operations, include Tesco.com, the Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy. Its Sonetto technology gives retailers the ability to control customer promotions across all channels.
