M-Retailing’s tipple du jour Jägermeister has launched an app for iPhone and Android that combines mobile GPS technology and Facebook, to help users locate bars and nightclubs that serve ice cold Jägermeister and have a Jägermeister Tap Machine. Smartphone users will also be directed to JägerMusic gigs and music festivals, featuring the Jägerettes and Jäger Trucks.
The Jägermeister ICE COLD app, developed by Grapple Mobile will allow users to check-in to venues and festivals across the country to earn points and win Jägermeister related prizes. The more active the user, the more points they will gain to increase their chances of winning on a monthly basis. Prizes will include a Jägermeister Peavey electric guitar worth £700, iPods, signed JägerMusic merchandise, Jägermeister clothing and tickets to music festivals.
The app also includes a Jägermeister News feed keeping users up to date with all things Jägermeister such as new bands added to the JägerMusic program, competitions, festival and gig announcements and much more.
The Jägermeister ICE COLD app also lets users share their location and send invitations to their friends via Facebook. Combined with GPS capabilities, a status update generated by the application will be posted on the users Facebook wall.
Mike Swingwood, Jägermeister UK Marketing Manager explains the thinking behind the app. “The app allows consumers to interact with all the amazing Jägermeister activity in one place, and be rewarded for doing so. The launch of our Smartphone app further strengthens our social media offering and is part of the Ice Cold communication strategy for this year. We have a loyal fan base and we are constantly striving to offer our consumers the most current and engaging tools to interact with the brand.”
“This app makes great use of the mobile channel and location based services delivering targeted and relevant information about Jagermeister events and venues in real time, depending on your exact location. From a commercial perspective it delivers huge value by raising brand awareness and enabling Jagermeister to develop even stronger relationships with their customers,” adds Alistair Crane, CEO Grapple Mobile.
‘Rock star’ Charlie Simpson – he used to be in boy band Busted, but is now a “serious Pop Punker” – is excited about the new app (and may already have had a few Jägermeisters when told about the new app) said: “Yes! Jägermeister have a brilliant new app so you can keep up to date with news and gigs from the frontline. Jägermeister work with some truly awesome artists and festivals so now you’ll know where to get all the info in one place. The app will most definitely be taking a coveted spot on my phone’s home screen!” Thanks for that Charles.
