John Lewis has created a new role of director of online product, with Sienne Veit the first to hold the role.

In this new role, Veit will lead the online customer experience team, responsible for ensuring customers have a seamless journey across its digital sales channels, from the website to mobile, tablet and other devices. She will report to online director Mark Lewis.

Veit, who was previously head of mobile at Morrisons and before that worked at Marks & Spencer , takes up the job after a year running her own consultancy, Invisible Stuff.

Her appointment comes at a time when mobile is moving centre stage at John Lewis now that more than half of its internet traffic is from mobile and tablet devices. She will head a team that has recently worked on developing the John Lewis app and tablet app.

Mark Lewis, online director at John Lewis, said: “With a deep passion for customer experience and many years working in the digital retail space, Sienne is ideally placed to lead the next stage of our online and omnichannel growth and ensure customer experience across our website, mobile, tablet and other devices is market-leading.”

Sienne Veit said: “I’m thrilled to be joining John Lewis. Over the last few years the business has worked hard to grow its omnichannel offer to customers and I’m looking forward to building on this to ensure John Lewis remains renowned for its outstanding experience to customers no matter how they chose to shop.”
