Just Eat has delivered its 100 millionth order in the UK. The milestone order was placed with Bits N Pizza in Haywood, near Manchester.

The event comes 13 years after Just Eat, now based in London, first launched in Denmark. Today the online takeaway marketplace operates in 13 countries around the world, and has 4.7m active customers in the UK who order from a choice of almost 100 different types of food from more than 22,500 restaurant partners using Just Eat mobile apps and website.

David Buttress, chief executive of Just Eat, said: “Reaching the 100 millionth order milestone is fantastic – we couldn’t have done it without our incredible teams and restaurant partners.

“I’m so proud to see the progress Just Eat has made since I first joined eight years ago. I remember renting our first UK office, screwing the desks and chairs together, and then signing up our first restaurant, Super Pizza. This is a really great day.”

Graham Corfield, UK managing director of Just Eat, added: “I’d like to congratulate Bits N Pizza for processing the 100 millionth order and winning the £1,000 cash prize. It’s a great cause for celebration for Just Eat too – 100 million orders is enough curry to fill over 500 Wembley stadiums or enough pizza boxes to go around the world! We also hope that the lucky customer who made the winning order enjoys their year-long supply of free takeaway, whatever their preferred dish.”
