Brand Search Tracker: December 2019

Linked InTwitterFacebookeCard

This is the first edition of our Brand Search tracker, which will be updated on a quarterly basis. Using data from Pi Datametrics, it looks at the most searched brands on Google and the ones with the biggest percentage increase in searches.

In the 12 months to the end of July 2019, UK shoppers made 11 billion searches where a Top500 brand was the keyword. Google itself (a retailer of certain products and therefore a part of the analysis) had the most searches, at 354 million searches. It’s unlikely that most of these were retail-related searches but the same can’t be said for Amazon, the juggernaut next in the ranking. There were 208 million searches for ‘amazon’ over the year-long period. This was followed by eBay, Argos, Next and John Lewis.
