Retailers can now create professional-quality room and floor plans alongside AR overlays using just their iPhone.

Leading AR and VR platform, iStaging has introduced VR Maker, a mobile app that allows designers to create professional-quality AR and floor plans for their retail spaces, using Apple’s ARKit augmented reality technology.

Equipped with a free 720-degree add-on lens – which users can obtain by signing up to iStaging – the app allows VR-enthusiasts can capture a bird’s eye-view of any space and it can measure wall placement with 97% accuracy.

By placing a smartphone on a rotator, it an take 16 HDR photos to create a 360-degree spherical panorama of an interior. Moreover, the rotator stabilises the smartphone and decreases a centre of rotation, guaranteeing top-notch panoramas with no stitching errors, even on close range objects in the AR overlay.

The floor plan can be then exported as an image or added to a LiveTour. Consumers can use the platform to digitally edit the floor plan by adding tags, notes and hotspots.

The floor-plan feature is an important addition to our toolset,” says Johnny Lee, chief executive officer at iStaging. “Virtual tours and floor plans are two facets of the same experience, and our real estate customers expect to be able to generate them all in one go.”
