Naked Wines customers can now pick up their online wine orders in Majestic Wines stores across the UK.
The move follows a trial of a Naked Wines click and collect service in 22 of Majestic Wines’ 213 stores that has seen more than 2,900 orders placed. It is also part of a strategy for the two retail brands to share their complementary strengths following Majestic Wine’s acquisition of the pureplay wine specialist in April.
“Access to a national store network was one of the clear benefits for Naked Wines following the acquisition by majestic and it is great that we’ve been able to launch this service to Naked Wines’ customers so quickly,” said Rowan Gormley, chief executive of Majestic. “It is obvious to me that both businesses have so much to offer one another and we are working on optimising even more of the complementary strengths between the two.”
Naked Wines’ 150,000 ‘Angel’ customers can now opt to collect their wines from their local Majestic shop, open seven days a week, or name their preferred day for home delivery. Stock will, however, remain separate since Naked Wines’ products are crowd funded by its ‘angel’ customers.
Eamon Fitzgerald, UK managing director of Naked Wines, said it had seen an enthusiastic response to the new service. “We’ve seen a strong take-up from customers – particularly for those living in city centres and work full time,” he said. “We have been looking for a solution for some time, and Majestic’s national footprint and logistics expertise are ideal.”
