Construction of a new 574,000 sq ft warehouse at Magna Park in Milton Keynes, the largest to be developed on the site since the financial crisis, is to begin next month.
Built by logistics warehouse and distribution parks investor and developer IDI Gazeley, the building is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will target leading logistics, distribution and ecommerce companies.
The development, named Altitude, will be 21m high and will include sustainability features including LED lighting, DESG partitions, solar thermal heating and rainwater harvesting.
The site will also offer optimised natural light and power charging stations for electric vehicles, as well as using energy from solar panels and battery packs, to help companies reduce supply chain emissions.
The Magna Park hub, which is located between J13 and J14 of the M1, is already home to brands including John Lewis, Waitrose and River Island.
Alex Verbeek, senior vice president & managing director UK, IDI Gazeley, said that sustainability was a key focus of the new development. “Energy efficiency is fundamental to our design process and this development goes far beyond what is required from building regulations in terms of sustainability,” he said.
