Online sales rise by a quarter at ScS as shoppers reach for convenient ordering

ScS said its online sales grew by 25.4% to reach £8.4m during its latest financial year. The growth came in the year that the multichannel retailer launched a new ecommerce platform for its own ScS website as well as a bespoke House of Fraser ‘for living’ website.

Chief executive David Knight said that for a company selling upholstered furniture and floorings, a website was primarily a marketing tool that helped customers to research their purchases online and in the store. “However,” he said, “the launch of our new website has made excellent progress – the convenience of ordering online continued to grow during the year with revenue increasing by £1.7million, or 25.4%, to £8.4million.”

The upholstered furnishings retailer, a Top150 company in Internet Retailing’s IRUK500 research, today reported revenue of £275.7m in the year to July 25, 13.4% up against the same time last year. Pre-tax losses came in at £2.2m, from a profit of £5.9m last year.

ScS employs more than 1,700 people and sells online, through 96 stores and in 30 concessions in House of Fraser stores.
