Customers can now return their online orders by printing their own labels in stores that are part of the CollectPlus network – and can go a step further to arrange their return by voice, using Amazon Alexa.

CollectPlus and Amazon Alexa have rolled-out a ’print in-store’ solution that enables customers to return their shopping via the voice assistant to their nearest Collectplus store.

Retailers including Very, Littlewoods, and Very Exclusive are already using the service at launch.

The innovation, which was developed in collaboration with returns start-up Clicksit, allows customers without access to a printer to return their online shopping to more than 400 retailers to any of CollectPlus’ 700 stores across the UK.

To make the service more seamless, CollectPlus says that shoppers can order a return label via Amazon Alexa by merely telling the technology the name of the retailer they wish to make a return to. The device will then send a barcode to the customer’s phone, along with a link to the CollectPlus store locator to help them find their local store.

“We’re always looking for innovative ways to enhance our customer experience,” says Matthew Jacques, strategic partnerships director at CollectPlus. “This rollout of Print in Store for Returns will benefit customers who do not have a printer at home – as is the case for many millennials who are used to living paper-free lives.

“The additional integration with Amazon Alexa marks the first time that voice activation technology has been used end to end in consumer returns logistics and offers our customers even greater convenience as they fit online shopping around their busy lifestyles.”

Media company Sky was the first brand to use the service. Operations manager, Stephen Ireland, said: “It’s fantastic to be the first brand in the UK to offer this ultra-convenient service to our customers wishing to recycle, return or replace their Sky equipment. We place great value on providing outstanding customer experience. By offering this latest innovation, we are making it even easier for Sky customers to enjoy our world-class entertainment.”
