sent out 6m orders for its clients in 2010 - 25% more than in 2009.
At the same time the number of items sent out in each order grew by 31% compared to 2009, suggesting that shoppers are buying more items in each order they place.
Over the course of the year orders with a total retail value of £500m were sent out. In the run up to Christmas, from October 1 to December 31, 2.6m orders were dispatched – 15% up on last year - with a total retail value of £200m. The busiest week was Monday December 13, when 360,000 orders were consigned. In 2005 just 750,000 orders were dispatched.
Mark Hewitt, chief executive of iForce, said: “2010 has been an incredible and successful year for us. Managing total annual increases of over 30% in items dispatched demonstrates our unquestioned ability to scale successfully our operations to meet the needs of our clients.”
He said he was pleased with the way teams had responded to volume spikes following the snowy weather. “All service-level agreements were met and client expectations exceeded,” he said.
So far in 2011, says Hewitt, “unprecedented volumes” have been handled through post-Christmas sales, while multichannel returns processing and remarketing has also risen to record levels in the first two weeks of January.
iForce, founded in 2008, employs 500 people and has six UK warehouses. Its clients include John Lewis Direct, Sainsbury’s, Boots.com and Tesco.
