Today’s Internet Retailing newsletter comes after two days immersion in the latest thinking in digital retail at Internet Retailing Expo (IRX 2015). More than 100 retailers were speaking, many to packed conference theatres, to some of the thousands of visitors who attended over the course of the two days. Highlights included John Roberts of AO.com on the lessons he drew from the company’s IPO, John Munnelly of John Lewis on Black Friday, and other logistical challenges, the launch of the IREU 500 Footprint Report and Neil Sansom of Moss Bross, speaking on the day that his company announced a 58% rise in online sales over its latest full year. We cover all in today’s newsletter and will be adding more IRX 2015 stories to the site over coming days. Here’s how the event was reported moment by moment on Twitter, and here’s a report from Sean Fleming of eDelivery magazine on two days at EDX.
We also found time to report beyond IRX, with digital sales figures from DFS, the ONS, and, from the University of Southampton, a view of how ‘once-in-a-generation’ change in consumer behaviour is now fuelling a high street revival. Today’s guest comment comes from Kieran McBride of Joylab.
