More than one million parcels have now been collected by Royal Mail postmen and women since the launch of the Parcel Collect service last October.
The parcel pick-up service, Parcel Collect, means that parcels are collected from a customer’s house or safe place for an additional 72p on top of normal postage costs, or for 60p on pre-paid return items. Up to five parcels can be collected at a time and the service is available Monday to Saturday and can be booked up to five days in advance and up to midnight the day before.
The service saw particularly strong growth over the Christmas period and during the subsequent UK lockdown.
Nick Landon, chief commercial officer at Royal Mail, said: “The introduction of Parcel Collect has been incredibly successful, with one million parcels a fantastic milestone to reach in just five months. Parcel Collect is part of our commitment to continuously make our services more convenient for customers and makes it easier to use Royal Mail’s services than ever before.
