Argos appoints new 'voice of the customer'
has appointed a new marketing director to be the voice of its customers as the retailer transforms into a digital-first business.
Stephem Vowles will take on the job from September 30, charged with bringing to life the brand and customer strategy for Argos in a digital transformation plan first unveiled last October
The role will include omnichannel responsibility for the customer experience and consumer insight and analytics as well as all aspects of marketing, from brand maangement to personalised marketing.
John Walden, managing director of Argos, said: “Stephen is a great addition to a strong leadership team. He will play a pivotal role within the leadership team as the ‘voice of the customer’ within Argos, leading the drive to become a more consumer centric company and the repositioning of the brand and customer experience to be a universally appealing digital retail leader.”

Vowles joins from Ladbrokes where he was customer experience director and chief marketer. He has also previously worked for Thomas Cook Retail, Sainsbury’s Supermarkets and, in the US, Stop and Shop.
