New Poq platform brings mobile visual search to the masses

Image recognition based visual search forms the centrepiece of the latest platform release from Poq, which also seeks to make users GDPR-compliant and helps retailers not only manage these front-end issues, but also the inventory and back end.

Polaris – named for the Pole Star – seeks to make the next generation of mobile retailoring services available to all retailers, featuring enhanced data analysis tools and better security alongside more cutting edge features.

To use visual search, the shopper snaps a new picture through the Visual Search feature or uploads an existing photo from his or her album. The product images are then processed and analysed using deep learning algorithms to understand the style of the products. Based on the user submitted image, Visual Search will recommend visually similar and in category items for the user to browse and purchase.

The benefits to retailers, says Poq, are more completed searches, higher conversion rates, higher engagement and 30% month on month user growth. It also assuages the consumer needs for instant gratification and makes finding exactly what they want straightforward.

The new platform also offers a data and privacy specific feature that immediately ensures your app and your company are GDPR compliant and App users can now be informed and make the decision to act fast on items with low stock, using our size selector feature, which has a low stock indicator to signify item sizes low in stock.

For  Native Checkout clients, 3D secure enrolled Poq customers can now also benefit from the extra layer of fraud protection from 3D Secure from Braintree – a vital aspect of the frictionless check out experience, which is a must for better in-store experience, but still viewed warily by many consumers.
