The multichannel difference: retail sales, at home and abroad

This is an archived article - we have removed images and other assets but have left the text unchanged for your reference

Retail sales are front of mind in today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, where we report on the latest figures from the British Retail Consortium figures. They show that while February was a slow month for traders, online channels contributed a welcome boost. That chimes with a finding in the latest eBay Small Business Exports Index, which suggests that retailers trading online are more likely to export than those which don’t.

Today we also have plenty of advice and information for retailers looking both to improve their systems now and for the future. We have guest analysis from Mark Sear of EMC Consulting with advice for brands on how to prepare for the arrival of the Internet of Things, while Géraud de Borchgrave of Luckycycle considers what loyalty now means to consumers. Today’s IRX 2016 preview considers four easy steps that retailers can take to improve their payments.

Finally, we report as Holland & Barrett introduces new technology with the aim of improving its product information.
