MediaMarkt has begun selling selected products on eBay in a bid to reach a broader base of customers.

The electronics retailer will sell more than 10,000 products via the online marketplace. The range will include items that are more than 12 months old or have been displayed in its 87 stores.

Customers can buy items at a fixed price rather than needing to bid in eBay auctions. They can have them delivered to their address or collect from the store in question.

MediaMarkt Iberia teams up with eBay to sell some of its products on the ’ecommerce’ platform.

Samuel Debeaupte, regional director at MediaMarkt Iberia, said the firm “is not alien to the new needs of consumers.”

He added: “Purchasing habits have changed and that makes us work every day to adapt to the preferences of our customers. For a market like Spain, collaborating with eBay is an exciting challenge, we have the maximum guarantees that our partner offers us.”

MediaMarktSaturn has had a similar collaboration with eBay in Germany since 2012. It offers over 93,000 items.

Wolfgang Kirsch, CEO of the company in Germany, said: “eBay is a very interesting additional distribution channel, through which we can make our extensive online product range available to more than 16 million potential customers in Germany.

“With the eBay web shops of Media Markt and Saturn, we offer eBay buyers an even wider range of electronics products. So with this cooperation, we bring together great demand and a large supply.”
