Online fashion giant Zalando has opened its seventh physical store in the German city of Stuttgart, offering customers a chance to buy unsold merchandise from the online store.

The German retailer will use the 1200 square metre location in the city centre to sell a range of around 15000 products for a reduced price. The range includes items assembled from the previous season or with minor defects.

Zalando also said it will add two new outlets in Munich and Nuremberg to the 11 it already had planned by 2021. The other four planned outlets are in Hanover, Mannheim, Ulm and Constance, adding to existing locations including Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Cologne.

The retailer commissioned architecture firm Design in Architektur to design the store. It extends across three floors, offering separate floors for different departments and offers free wi-fi and phone charging.

Dorothee Schönfeld, MD of Zalando Outlets, said: “We are also very much looking forward to the customer reactions at the seventh outlet opening.

“We will be able to experience a few more of these moments in the future: due to our rapid growth, the demand for outlets is also increasing.”

While most of its stores are outlets, in July last year Zalando opened its own physical beauty store in Berlin, the “Beauty Station” in the Mitte district, in partnership with Estée Lauder.
