Good news for drinkers, Virgin Wines has launched a mobile version of its website. Following a threefold increase in the number of visitors to the Virgin Wines website in the last year compared to the previous year, the world’s specialist online wine retailer has worked with software company Mobify during the course of the last few months to create the mobile site.

The new Virgin Wines mobile site aims to provide customers with an improved user experience when using mobile devices. It offers a stripped down version of the Virgin Wines desktop website but retains many of the key elements essential for mobile users. Customers can mix their own case of wine or choose from a pre-mixed case. The “My Account” facility has been streamlined for ease of use, allowing users to navigate and make their purchases swiftly and smoothly. Developments are afoot to add auctions and to enable customers to rate their wines at a later date.

Commenting on the launch of the mobile website, Jay Wright, Managing Director at Virgin Wines explains: “During the last year we have seen a significant increase in the amount of visits to our website from mobile devices compared to the previous year. We have launched the mobile version of our website in response to this, bringing our brand closer to our customers and those people who like to interact with us via a mobile device.”

Igor Faletski, CEO of Mobify, added: “The new Virgin Wines mobile website clearly shows how Virgin Wines is leading wine retailers in serving their customers. The mobile site is a rich browsing and shopping experience built on cutting-edge CSS, javascript and HTML 5. Now wine enthusiasts can access Virgin Wines through virginwines.co.uk wherever and whenever they like in order to stock up on wine and to take advantage of an exciting range of timely offers.”
