Was Black Friday sales growth spurred by widespread discounting?

This is an archived article - we have removed images and other assets but have left the text unchanged for your reference

In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we’re taking a look at just how far retailers appear to have cut prices at Black Friday in a move that ensured strong growth in November – but, it’s warned, may have eaten into spending that would otherwise have taken place in December.

We’re also looking to the future, with research that puts a figure on European online retail sales spending over the next five years, and in the first of three 2017 retail prediction round-ups, in which we hear from industry figures on the trends and technologies they believe will be important in the year to come.

We also have predictions from eBay Advertising as to which festive shows are most likely to prompt dual screening shopping searches this winter.

How do leading retailers put their customers at the heart of their business? We have a round-up of 12 approaches that work.

Finally, today’s guest comment comes from Adrien Nussenbaum of Mirakl, who considers whether retailers need to go head-to-head with Amazon.
