It’s in the interests of all traders to make sure digital commerce works to its full potential within their businesses. But, as two new studies, one from Salmon and one from Intershop, on B2B ecommerce, remind us today that’s easier said than done, against a backdrop of legacy systems.

Today we report on two very different retailers that are improving their multichannel customer service, step by step: while Tesco is introducing a cross channel brand guarantee, Home Leisure Direct is opening the latest stage of its games room showroom, which it says is now the biggest in Europe. Tomorrow delegates at IRC 2015 can also learn directly from a host of other traders on how they are overcoming legacy and other challenges to create joined-up services for the future.

Today we report on September’s BRC retail sales figures, while today’s guest comment comes from Damian Scragg of Ghostery, who argues that retailers ignore website latency at their peril.
