Aldi click and collect expands across UK

DeliveryX

Discount supermarket Aldi will offer UK-wide click and collect after successful pilots of the service.
The service will be available from 200 stores in the UK before Christmas, offering the company’s full grocery range.

Customers can check whether the service is available near them online. All slots are priced at £4.99 with no minimum spend. The shopper receives a confirmation email or SMS reminder on the day and can have the items brought out to their car.

Aldi has managed the roll-out through a new omnichannel commerce solution. The solution from mdf commerce allows both online and physical presences to be managed from the same cloud, incorporating mobile solutions for staff and orchestration of fulfilment.

David Barter, managing director of IT at Aldi UK, said: “Aldi has always offered amazing quality products at unbeatable prices and our new click and collect service provides customers with even more choice when shopping with us.”

The retailer, the UK’s lowest priced supermarket according to Which?. has tapped into click and collect as a way of offering low-contact online retailing without having to absorb the heavy costs of fulfilling online orders.

Aldi has also worked with on-demand courier Deliveroo, which allows customers to place orders for Aldi products through its app and receive them in less than an hour.
