Barloworld SCS bought by LLamasoft

US-based supply chain software company LLamasoft has acquired Barloworld Supply Chain Services in a deal announced this morning, which includes Barloworld’s technology, software applications, and employees across Europe. It does not include Barloworld SCS operations in the Middle East and South Africa, which will be covered by the terms of a strategic partnership agreement.
In April, LLamasoft acquired IBM’s supply chain business, and along with it an additional 120 customers including Apple, Microsoft and Shell. The Barloworld acquisition follows the injection of $50M into LLamasoft by Goldman Sachs in October.

This latest deal, for an undisclosed amount, values LLamasoft at $200M.

Barloworld has its headquarters in Birmingham, and its customers include DHL, Jaguar / Land Rover, Lego, Nestle, Sainsbury’s, and ThyssenKrupp. LLamasoft operates in many of the same business sectors, including food, retail and automotive; other customers include 3M, British American Tobacco, Dow Corning, and RS Components.

One of the first undertakings of the newly merged company will be to migrate Barloworld customers onto the LLamasoft platform.

Richard Forrest, CEO of the Barloworld Supply Chain Software division said: “Joining LLamasoft provides exciting opportunities for both our customers and staff. We will form part of a larger supply chain design community driving innovation, deeper domain expertise and knowledge sharing across a variety of supply chain planning platforms. This in turn creates diverse career growth for our staff and more value to our clients and global business partners.”

LLamasoft’s revenue was approximately $24 million in 2013, and grew to almost $36 million last year. It is expected to grow to around $42 million this year and $54 million next year.

“This acquisition and strategic partnership further solidifies LLamasoft’s standing as the global leader in supply chain design software and solutions,” said Don Hicks, CEO and president of LLamasoft. “We are also extremely excited about the advancements that Barloworld SCS has made in their supply chain planning applications, and we believe that our combined engineering talent can bring even more innovative solutions to the market in the coming months and years to come.”
